THE PASSING. FIRST DRAFT.

INT. DAVES HOUSE- LIVING ROOM.-NIGHT.

DAVE sits on sofa looking at photograph, he looks sad.

CLOSE UP to show he is holding photograph of Dave and little sister, ELLIE

Dave gets up, sighs, places the photo down, and leaves the room

CUT TO

EXT. STREET-NIGHT

POV shot; something is looking in Dave’s living room as he gets up and leaves.

FADE TO

INT. DAVES HOUSE-HALLWAY

POV shot, camera wanders through the house, through into the kitchen, looking at the fridge; fridge magnets display titles; MATT NEWTON AND EWAN MOORE. Camera keeps moving, walks upstairs, slowly, carefully, at the top of the stairs in alphabet blocks, the word; PRESENTS. The camera carries on across the landing to Dave’s bedroom door. On the door, made to look like some sort of band logo, is the films title; THE PASSING. The door opens and the camera moves inside to see Dave lying asleep in bed.

CUT TO

CLOSE UP of the same photo of Dave and Ellie on Dave’s bedside table.

CLOSE UP of Dave tossing and turning in bed

FADE TO

EXT. GRAVEYARD-EARLY MORNING

All scenes in graveyard will have a BLACK AND WHITE EFFECT.

DREAMDAVE lying flowers by grave. There is a picture of Ellie also by the grave.

DreamDave closes his eyes, and we hear a screeching car, distant sounding. When Dave opens his eyes, he looks up off camera.

CUT TO

INT. DAVES BEDROOM-NIGHT

CLOSE UP of Dave as he continues to toss and turn, a little more now.

CUT TO

EXT. GRAVEYARD-EARLY MORNING

DreamDave sees CREEPY ELLIE, standing in the distance, under an arch. She goes to walk forward, and then disappears.

DreamDave stands to walk over to where he just saw Creepy Ellie, and she appears from behind her grave. DreamDave turns to look at her, and she is in a tattered dress, with a pale face, and straggly hair. She is holding a small colourful ball. She stares at him. No sign of emotion.

DreamDave turns and begins to run through the graveyard, not looking back.

CUT TO

INT. DAVES BEDROOM-NIGHT

Dave in bed, tosses and turns more furiously than before, as if he is struggling.

CUT TO

EXT. STREET.-DAYTIME

A shot of a large CAR zooming down a road

DreamDave running through the graveyard

Ellie in the road, looking normal and healthy, she walks over to pick up the ball.

We see the car in the distance.

EXT. GRAVEYARD-EARLY MORNING

Creepy Ellie stands over Dave. Just staring.

CUT TO

EXT. STREET.-DAYTIME

Ellie picks up the ball. The car gets closer. As she turns round the car is inches from her.

CLOSE UP of Ellies face.

CUT TO

INT. DAVES BEDROOM-NIGHT

Dave jerks awake, as the sound of a car screeches in the distance.

FADE TO BLACK

This is a rough outline we jotted down before starting on the scrpit.

• Starts off, camera moving through the house, heading upstairs. Titles show up around house.
• Get to bedroom, see dave in bed tossing and turning. Picture of him and Ellie on bedside table.
• In black and white (this a dream) Dreamdave at a gravestone lying flowes by grave. There is a picture of Ellie also by this grave.
• Dreamdave closes his eyes, and we hear a car screeching.
• Dreamdave looks up off camera. We don't see what he's looking at.
• Back in bedroom Dave tosses and turns.
• Dreamdave sees creepy Ellie standing in the distance under arch.In seconds she's gone again.
• Dreamdave gets up to go to where Creepy Ellie was, and she appears behind him. This is when the audience get a proper look at her, all straggly and creepy and dead.
• Dreamdave turns to run through the graveyard, not looking back.
• THIS SECTION IS LOTS OF FAST CUTS:
• Dave in bed tosses and turns more vigourously than before.
• We see a car zoom down a road.
• Dreamdave keeps running
• We see a ball bounce onto the road.
• Dave in bed tosses and turns.
• Dreamdave stumbles and falls over.
• We see normal Ellie, walking into the middle of the road to pick up the ball. The car is seen in the distance.
• Creepy Ellie stands over Dreamdave. Mute. Expresionless.
• We see car come closer to normal Ellie.
• As Dave jerks awake in bed, we hear the echo of a car screeching.

Thats it at the moment. We'll put up the finsished script before Friday.

Went out and took these together on Wednesday, the 15th. Planning in the folder is pretty much done now too.

Gonna take some photos of a few potential houses for the bedroom and street scenes tomorrow.
Got some graveyard shots, so they're gonna get printed out tomoro and put on the blog when I upload them.

Thanks to the snow, our deadlines moved forward a little.

Audience Feedback:

1) A few people commented on the storyline saying it was a little confusing, but others could follow it okay. Personally i think its supposed to be a little bit confusing.

2) Most people liked the general idea, thought it was original.

3) A few people are confused by the idea of the car, and think maybe having the car actually hitting her would be a little too hard to realise on camera.

4)Most people liked the title a lot.
